Custom gummy formula development

For gummies, formula development is more important than for many other supplement forms. It is not enough to simply mix active ingredients together. Taste, texture, stability, appearance, shape, sweetness, acidity and the realistic capacity of active ingredients per gummy all need to be considered.

Formula development usually costs approximately 300 to 400 EUR, depending on the complexity of the recipe. For simpler products or already prepared bases, the process can be faster. More specific formulas always require individual assessment.

The gummy base can be gelatin based or pectin based. Depending on the product type, it is possible to work with a sugar version or a sugar free version. The choice of base always depends on the target group, desired texture, legislation, price and active ingredient composition.

Color and flavor are usually not a problem. We can work with different flavors, colors, natural options and standard options according to the needs of the specific product. The final choice is always adjusted according to the formula, because some active ingredients can significantly affect taste, color or stability.

Gummy coating options

Finished gummies can also be coated in different ways. Coating affects the appearance, mouthfeel and overall impression of the product.

Sugar coating: a classic option for a sweeter and more expressive taste profile.
Maltitol coating: suitable for sugar free versions where maltitol powder simulates the effect of sugar.
Glossy coating: can be made using carnauba wax and MCT coconut oil for a more attractive gummy appearance.

Minimum gummy production quantity

For selected projects, gummies can now be manufactured from 10 000 gummies. The final minimum quantity always depends on the specific shape, gummy weight, formula, packaging type and manufacturing possibilities.

For most shapes, the minimum quantity is mainly calculated according to the amount of produced gummy mass. The standard MOQ starts from 100 kg of gummy mass, from which the number of gummies and final retail packs is then calculated.

Bulk: gummies supplied in larger quantities without final retail packaging. This is our preferred format if the client handles final packaging separately.
